The Summit is ideal for classroom teachers, literacy coaches and specialists, district administrators, interventionists, ELL teachers, and parents looking to learn more.
Dr. Marcia Henry & Lavinia Mancuso
We are excited to have Dr. Marcia Henry and Lavinia Mancuso as our 2020 keynote speakers!
Dr. Henry has worked in the field of reading for almost 60 years as a teacher, tutor, diagnostician, author, and president of the International Dyslexia Association. Her book, “Unlocking Literacy: Effective Decoding and Spelling Instruction,” has helped many teachers develop explicit and systematic approaches to teaching literacy.
Mancuso spent 35 years working as a teacher and principal in New York City. She now serves as an administrative director at Everyone Reading, as well as the director of education and community relations at Read Alliance.
You don’t want to miss this opportunity to connect with peers and experts. You’ll be able to bring back new ideas and innovative solutions that you can add to your classroom to promote and improve literacy.
The 2020 Literacy Summit will also feature a full panel discussion centered around the science of reading and Structured Literacy. The panel will be led by Paul Liabenow and will feature teachers, literacy specialists, interventionists, and more!
Liabenow has dedicated his career to educating Michigan’s young people. With degrees from Michigan State University and Central Michigan University, Liabenow joined Cadillac Area Public Schools where he worked his way through the ranks of teacher, building leader, principal and district superintendent. Today, he serves as the Executive Director of the Michigan Association of Elementary and Middle School Principals—working to build a community of educators dedicated to advocating, leading, and learning.
